February 22nd in my house is referred to "Miracle on Ice Day". Today is the 33rd Anniversary (Yes, 33 years!) of the great Olympic hockey game between the United States and USSR. I am sure many of you know the outcome of the magnificent 4-3 victory, but many are unaware that this game was not the Gold Medal Game. The winner of the game would then advance to the Finals.

At the time the game was played I was a preteen home with the Chicken Pox. I was able to see all the games on television as I was home from school during those weeks. Ken Morrow was a local hero in my town and the news and newspapers were hyping things up from that angle, (as much as they could in the 80's.)

This one event springboarded my love for sports and collecting in general. And on this day I often am reminded of simpler times in my life, the joy I get from sports and my love of this hobby.

Do you recall where you were at and your feelings on this day in 1980?
